Concrete Benchtops For Birdcage Altona Cafe

The Concrete Republic team was excited to pair up with Tim from Tim’s Creative Landscaping, creating custom concrete benchtops for the new courtyard at Birdcage Altona Cafe.

As part of the recently completed project, we made and installed seven concrete benchtops for the cafe’s brand-new outdoor setting.

We enjoyed collaborating with both Tim and the cafe owner on this project, adding our own unique stamp and complementing Tim’s design while meeting the cafe owners’ needs.

Birdcage Altona Cafe wanted a warm, rustic appeal for the courtyard area, with a modern industrial visual aesthetic to complement their location, food and style.

Tim designed the tables, featuring raw iron and timber legs. Concrete benchtops were a perfect choice, adding a unique visual and textural appeal. Concrete works especially well in outdoor areas, offering high fire and heat resistance, as well as being low-maintenance and easy to clean – perfect for a busy cafe environment.

With a few tweaks to our glass fiber reinforced concrete mix and using custom-made molds, we were able to create the perfect blend of strength and rough elegance. Our particular blend of concrete is stronger than traditional concrete, meaning we can pour our concrete benchtops thinner for a modern, designer aesthetic.

The owner was rapt with the result and we couldn’t be happier.

We’re in the process of getting more photos of our tables in action, so stay tuned. In the meantime, please contact us for more information or a quote.
